Highlightsof Tea Room Tour
① Ueda Sōko Tradition of Chanoyu Tea Room Tour

Ueda Soko is the founder of the Ueda Sōko Tradition of Chanoyu, who served as the chief retainer of the Asano clan during the Edo period in Hiroshima. The tea room, originally constructed by Ueda Soko, has been restored for an exhibition held in both Tokyo and Hiroshima, commemorating the 450th anniversary of Ueda Soko’s birth. It is now relocated and exhibited on the 1st floor of the Hiroshima Electric Railway headquarters. The tour allows visitors to enjoy leisurely viewing during non-public hours. Following the tour, participants will have the opportunity to experience a table-style tea ceremony
② Table-Seated Tea Ceremony Experience

We will have a casual tea gathering at a table with a guide as the host and participants as the guests. You will enjoy Japanese confectionery and matcha prepared by the guide. After that, you will have the opportunity to experience making tea.
③ A Brief Overview of Post-Bomb Reconstruction

After the atomic bombing, it was said that no vegetation would grow in Hiroshima for 75 years, but the city has since been rebuilt as a City of Peace. Just three days after the bombing, streetcars of the Hiroshima Electric Railway were running again, operated by female students. Today, the streetcars are affectionately referred to as ‘Hiroden’ by Hiroshima’s citizens. During this tour, we will also provide an explanation of the situation around the Hiroshima Electric Railway headquarters at the time of the bombing and the subsequent reconstruction of the city.
